Hello everyone. The below submission is to update and present prayer requests. (Diana says it’s too long…) A friend in the states has volunteered her services as a webmaster and will soon set up a new more professional web site/blog, so we’ll let you know when it is up for your review.
“I made known to them Your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which You have loved me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17:26
This is part of the prayer Jesus offered to his Father just before he was arrested. (Take time to be blessed by slowly reading this prayer and feeling the passion of our Savior as He related to his Father.)
As we are well into our third year serving in Guatemala, Diana and I pray that our love for the people would continue to increase as we serve at Las Buenas Nuevas and at Iglesia Emanuel. Yes, there have been challenges physically and culturally. There have been times when we questioned the call, but during those situations we’ve been shown how our God could be glorified in them and we are confirmed.
In the spring we had relationship problems with staff at our facility. We were blessed to have that worked out, and now our Wednesday morning prayer meetings are even better than before. Our automotive “challenges” have enabled us to build relationships with Guatemaltecos in the city, and we ask prayer for Proclidas, Marisa, and Claudio as we share Christ. At times it appears Diana’s body doesn’t totally defend itself from some of the strange and plenteous bacteria that call Guatemala home. Yet, she is a real trouper and we covet your prayers for her protection…and mine.
It has been good to host, help, and organize work groups that come down from the states on short term missions. It is particularly satisfying to see their life change during their time here, and forming in the minds of some. the desire to allow God to lead them into missions. A recent medical group from Georgia did 3 medical clinics in some really needy areas in their 5 day stay here. Many people received medical attention and the gospel, and the pastors we worked with in this effort will continue to reap as they follow-up with many attendees. In September and November there are groups we’ll be helping coming to install pure water systems in poor pueblos near Atitlan.
“…continue to make it known.”
Diana is fully involved in planning for our third Vacation Bible School happening in late November. We do not have a short term mission group yet signed up to help with it, and we’re taking applications! We routinely have had close to two hundred kids, and never enough staff.
Pray for our pastor, Adan Vasquez and his family as they serve at Emanuel. We really believe God is working through him toward healing of relationships there.
“..I have made known to them your name.”
We praise God for the prayer and monetary support many of you continue to provide, enabling us to continue our work here. We had hoped to come to the states for some weeks in February to see many of you during missions conferences occurring then, but we are involved in a large function at Las Buenas Nuevas, so we hope to visit many in March.
God’s richest blessings on you all as He shows His love through you.
Niel & Diana
Note...soon hope to report a web site a supporter is setting up for us. Additionally, prayer needed in two areas:
1.) We will soon be doing more work in water purification evangelism in other areas, requiring travel.
2.) Unexpected rise occured in our living expense in the amount of $200. monthly, putting us further behind....
